  • About the Role:
    This is a dual role designed to establish and maintain a cohesive training standard across the organization, and to support our training clients through curricula delivered via our Class and Lesson Programs. 

    The Training Director is a leadership role dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the quality of our training programs. In this role, you guide curriculum development, mentor staff, and ensure that all training reflects the core values and standards of OpBarks.

    As a Class and Lesson Program manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the management of classes and lessons across locations, and developing team members to offer those services as well. You will offer classes and lessons on a rotating schedule at each location, to ensure you have the pulse of the current client needs and trends. You will be responsible for the care of the East Falls facility.  


    What You’ll Do:

    Training Director Responsibilities

    Training Strategy & Program Excellence

    • Define, oversee, and maintain all OpBarks training methodologies to ensure consistency across programs.

    • Revisit and optimize curriculum design and implement improvements to drive measurable results.

    • Apply expert-level knowledge of dog training, behavior, and program development to solve complex training challenges and support training teams.

    • Set strategic direction up to one year in advance, developing or refining processes to achieve results efficiently.

      Team Leadership & Development

    • Lead, mentor, and develop the training team to ensure high-level quality control and program excellence.

    • Build out shadow/intern programs and internal certifications to develop and retain talent.

    • Distill complex concepts and strategies into clear, actionable guidance that is accessible to any team member.


      Thought Leadership

    • Stay at the forefront of training and behavior best practices.

    Program Management 

    Program responsibilities 

    • Schedule and maintain quarterly class schedules and packages 

    • Develop new curriculums and review current curriculums

    • Gather feedback from team and clients on continued improvement/development of offerings

    • Communicate with clients and ensure satisfaction

    • Capture and create content for client updates and company promotion.

    Facility responsibilities

    • Maintain the East Falls facility on a regular (weekly/monthly/quarterly) and ad hoc basis 

    Team management

    • Class/Lesson team development and certification 

    Classes & Lessons as a training service 

    • Offer all program services, including, but not limited to, behavior evaluations, all lesson types, all class types, all clinic types, and puppy socials. 


    Schedule
    This is an on-site role, with regular rotation through Quakertown, Old City and East Falls.

  • Position Overview: 

    We seek a dedicated and motivated Assistant Dog Trainer to join our Farm Dog team and support our lead dog trainer in delivering high-quality training programs to our canine clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for working with dogs, a desire to learn about dog training techniques, and a commitment to helping dogs achieve their training goals.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Assist in Training Sessions:

    • Utilizing a can-do attitude, will work closely with the lead dog trainer during training sessions with dogs and clients, when possible.

    • Help with obedience training, behavior modification, and socialization exercises.

    • Utilize integrative and positive reinforcement-based techniques to train and modify behavior safely and effectively.

    • Provide support in assisting with building communication system, foundation learning with all dogs, and likely e-collar acclimation and repetition building for dogs learning e-collar as a part of our program.

    Client Interaction:

    • Greet clients and assist with check-in procedures.

    • Answer client questions and provide information about training programs.

    • Be responsible for follow-up communication and proactively nurturing clients.

    • Communicate training progress and updates to clients under the guidance of the lead trainer.

    • Able to work group offerings, including but not limited to Socials, Grad Clinics, Retreats, Meet & Greets, Events, etc.


    Animal Care:

    • Hiking, walking, and safe handling and transportation of dogs.
      Assist with the care and well-being of dogs during training sessions, including feeding, providing water, and monitoring their health and behavior.

    • Administer treatments as directed by the lead trainer or veterinarian.

    • Ensure that training areas and equipment are clean and organized.

    • Responsible for handling enrichment dogs and hikes.


    Exercise and Playtime:

    • Help create and implement enrichment activities to engage dogs.

    • Assist in organizing and supervising group play sessions, ensuring safe and positive interactions.

    • Provide exercise and playtime for dogs to meet their physical and mental stimulation needs as created by the Program Manager.

    Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate records of each dog's training progress, dietary needs, and health status.

    • Document any unusual behavior or concerns for review by the lead trainer.

    • Assist in tracking training equipment and supplies.

    Safety and Protocol Adherence:

    • Follow safety protocols to ensure the well-being of dogs and staff.

    • Respond promptly to any safety or security concerns.

    • Be prepared to assist in emergency situations and follow established procedures.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum two years working professionally as animal trainer

    • Passion for working with dogs and a strong desire to learn about dog training techniques.

    • Basic knowledge of positive reinforcement training methods

    • Excellent communication and client relations skills.

    • Physical fitness and the ability to handle dogs of various sizes and energy levels.

    • Willingness to learn and take direction from the lead dog trainer or program manager.

    • Knowledge of canine health and first aid is a plus.
