Incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and a great instructors
“Yessss! We took the beginner dog class here, and it was great! The trainer, was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and a great instructor. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to improve their skills in handling their dog and understand how they work.”

I am not being dramatic when I say you have changed our lives
“WOW! (My husband actually cried in the first hour of being home. We were expecting improvement but anticipated there would be a lot of work to transition him home and he has already blown us away with his good behavior! Thank you thank you thank you!) I am not being dramatic when I say you have changed our lives.”

Thank you for guiding us to give Stevie the best possible life we can. She’s come such a long way.
”We’re so proud of how far Stevie has come and we owe so much of that to you and the crew at OpBarks. Thank you for guiding us to give Stevie the best possible life we can. She’s come such a long way. With gratitude.”

We couldn’t be happier with our experience
“We couldn’t be happier with our experience in classes. Our pup learned so many “real life” skills and we learned how to better teach him. Their classes went far beyond the basics, and we look forward to doing some of their really cool workshops in the future!”

Starting puppies and helping prevent and correct inappropriate behavior
“OpBarks is by far The Best!!! Excellent trainers and facilities, great for boarding, superior with helping prevent and correct inappropriate behaviors. Their day school is really fun for my dog, and structured, so he comes home tired from learning and playing. I would not have such well-behaved and awesome dogs (Rhodesian Ridgebacks age 6 and 1) without the OpBarks team. Take your puppy there right away. The sooner, the better. My two started puppy training at 10 weeks, and not only am I very grateful, but I also love when people compliment me on how well-behaved they are. They are both happy, sweet dogs and they love OpBarks!”

Opportunity Barks has been a great experience!
“Our dog really thrived in their 6-week Day Training program, and they were a great support not just training our dog, but working with us one-on-one to develop good habits. We greatly appreciated the video clips they would send of our dog throughout the day so we could be consistent with her training at home. Our dog continues to enjoy returning as a "mentor dog", and she always comes back happy to have learned new things (and tired!).”

A review from Milo (a dog).
“Hi guys from Milo Doyle. It’s been a while since my Dad has mentioned how happy he and Mom are with the difference that I have become over the year since they rescued me and when I came home from my 3-week camp experience.
I heard Dad telling Mom about this office he was in last week. He and a lady named Jess were talking about each others pets and dad had to mention Opportunity Barks. Seems that Jess has a “Doodle” type dog name Luna who might have a discipline problem.
Dad said how pleased he and Mom are with how I am progressing.
I just thought I would pass this chat I over heard to the ladies I grew to love.
I know that mom, dad, Roo and I hope you all have a very Merry and Blessed Christmas.
And a special thank you for saving me from my bad habits of the past and giving me such a good home.
Ruff you guys

My dog has truly blossomed into a more confident, well-behaved curious pup
“I have been blown away by Opportunity Barks! My dog has participated in the Day School (Old City), Board & Train (Bucks County), and training class (East Falls and Old City). Opportunity Barks has been a game-changer and quality of-life restorer -- for my dog and me. The team at OpBarks are patient, thoughtful, and incredibly knowledgable.
I went to Opportunity Barks to ask for help because my dog was having a difficult time adjusting to our move to Philly. He became very shy, sometimes reactive, barked a lot when left alone, and seemed to forget all previous training. Both at Day School and Boarding School, the staff took the time to work with my dog at his pace. Over the past six months, my dog has truly blossomed into a more confident, well-behaved curious pup! It’s incredible. Friends who haven’t seen my dog in a while comment on how confident, comfortable, and friendly he has become.
Thanks Op Barks for helping me get my little buddy back. In addition to knowing my dog is having fun (and learning too), I feel like my dog is safe and well cared for when I leave my dog with Opportunity Barks! We will come back again and again!”

The combination of science, research, reality, and hands-on learning make the time and investment worthwhile
“Thank you for the one-on-one classes that supplement the video classes. I learned a lot; therefore, Riley learned as well. Your combination of science, research, reality and hands-on learning make the time and investment worthwhile. I look forward to the next opportunity to learn and to help Riley.
The quote by Edith Wharton is "There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it." I thought of the quote as I watched some of your videos. Along that same idea is Plato's "Those having torches will pass them on to others."
Until next time.”

The most practical, clear, and comprehensive dog education available
“Opportunity Barks offers the most practical, clear, and comprehensive dog education available. My husband and I adopted our beloved pup who had a rough start (like many animals) and reactivity issues. We were novices for sure, and we knew we needed help. We read articles, consulted friends and "experts," and had less-than-helpful training experiences before we found Leigh and the ladies of Opportunity Barks. You don't need a clicker, you don't need a ton of treats, you don't need "good energy" or "dominate" your dog. With Opportunity Barks, you learn that your pet is a complex being (just like you) that requires relaxation, structure, and enrichment to get along in this world (just like us). We could not be happier and all of our lives are better for this amazing adoption and training experience. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Opportunity Barks!”

“I was often shaking my head with disbelief at what the one-on-one training with Opportunity Barks was able to get my girl Winnie to do when we sought help with her anxiety over vet visits and grooming.
They were great about showing me how to reinforce the training at home, so I also feel more confident continuing the process. Leigh was amazing at not only showing us how to elicit the appropriate behavior we sought, but also in explaining the 'why' behind the process.”

“Everyone at OpBarks has been fabulous
Puppy Boarding, Two-week Boarding School, and then a week of boarding - all in his first year - has been wonderful for WalterMellen! Everyone at OpBarks has been fabulous - and helped canine and humans immensely. Thank you for all your attention to him while he was "in-house" and beyond! Will (and have) recommended you!”

Thank you OpBarks for helping me have the relationship with my dog I always wanted
“Thank you again for all that you did for Dougie the past 2 weeks.... the changes are really remarkable and have already created so much more ease in our lives! Deciding to do the 2-week board and train was a decision I didn't make lightly, as it was a large financial commitment for me, and I was worried that Dougie and I couldn't keep up with the training consistently once he returned home. Now that he has been back for a week, I can easily say that engaging in the 2-week board and train was one of the best decisions I've made for Dougie and me since I got him 6 months ago. Although he still reverts back to some old behaviors at times, the change in his overall temperament is remarkable!
I can now work from home without demand barking, he doesn't try to bite me (and everything I own) all the time, and he can stay in "place" calmly for hours on end. As an avid hiker, I can also say that the e-collar has been a game-changer in that he is now able to allow himself off-leash at times. Now that the foundation has been laid, I am determined to keep it in place for Dougie and me, and truly believe it is possible.
Thank you OpBarks for helping me have the relationship with my dog I always wanted.”

As a veterinarian, I recommend Opportunity Barks to all of my clients… their holistic approach to dog training focuses not only on the dog but also on the human on the end of the dog's leash.
“Leigh and all of the members of Opportunity Barks have helped to enrich my dog's life in more ways then I am able to express in words. Lois Lane is high energy and has needed a lot of exercise and mental stimulation to learn how to be a good canine citizen. As a veterinarian, I recommend Opportunity Barks to all of my clients for training, boarding, workshops and day care because their holistic approach to dog training focuses not only on the dog, but also on the human on the end of the dog's leash. We can all benefit from more knowledge, and learning with our dogs is an incredibly satisfying, peaceful experience.”

“…actionable suggestions and opportunities to practice at home that fit our life and lifestyle.

“So here's the deal. We've been to quite a few dog trainers in our life and Op Barks is by far the best and here's why:
• Easy online sign-up and email support
• Prompt responses. Very receptive to clients' communications and needs
• Super knowledgeable staff that are literal dog whisperers
• Clean, bright, and spacious training space
• Options for workshops and so many different types of classes, the world is your dogs' oyster!
• Individualized training for your dog, even in group classes
• Intuitive and behavior-based training methods that work with your dog's natural communication style so you get a better understanding of them and how your behavior translates to them
• Supportive, safe, and non-judgmental space for people struggling with difficult doggy issues
• Deep learning for humans of dog psychology and behavior that is easy to swallow
• A great selection of toys, supplements, leashes, etc.
• Multiple locations, one of which is walkable for us!
I could go on and on but go see for yourself. We struggled to swallow the price but honestly, we are so glad we made it work because our lives are more peaceful and our dogs are happier and healthier because of it. Investing in your dog is investing in yourself so when you look at it that way- it is worth it. They also have payment plans!”

I adopted a doodle with some behavior issues (guarding, mouthing)…it’s only been 2 weeks and one private lesson in but it’s already made a huge difference in how we handle issues with the dog
“I adopted a doodle with some behavior issues (guarding, mouthing) and turned to OpBarks after a few friends recommended them. It’s only been 2 weeks and one private lesson in but it’s already made a huge difference in how we handle issues with the dog. Our household already feels calmer and Parker has taken to the lessons really well. Excited to watch him progress more and very relieved that we now have the tools to correct him in a way that doesn’t lead to us yelling or getting frustrated!”

Super knowledgeable, kick-ass team
“I would like to thank you for such an amazing learning experience. Every trainer we have had has been incredible, super knowledgeable, and genuine. You’re awesome, you have a kick-ass team, and you’ve created a beautiful thing! I have been and will continue to recommend OpBarks to everyone I talk to about dog training. Your work does not go unappreciated.”

Veterinarian recommended
“Excellent training by highly qualified trainers who use behavior modification methodologies that are also used by veterinary specialists in behavior. As a veterinarian, I highly recommend Leigh to help you and your pet have a strong, loving bond that will make both of you very happy. I am currently having her help me with my new rescue and greatly enjoy our classes, as does my new pup.”

Truly found the partnership and guidance that we were looking for
“Working with Opportunity Barks has been such an amazing experience! We had worked with trainers before, which left us questioning their methods and the productivity of their approach, and from the first conversation with the team at OpBarks, we knew it was the right fit. I love the Opportunity Barks, which looks at the full picture of a dog's life and well-being and focuses on building a strong foundation for your dog where they feel safe, cared for, and know what a strong tool relaxation is in the human world.
The trainers at OpBarks have the knowledge to troubleshoot any problems you may run into with your pup, and they really care to build a personal relationship with you and your dog through the process. We truly found the partnership and guidance that we were looking for to give our pup the best, most well-rounded life possible! Thank you!!”

Can't say enough great things about the magical dog fairies at OpBarks
“We can't say enough great things about the magical dog fairies at OpBarks! We rescued a 1.5-year-old Pit mix (Gary) and quickly realized we were over our heads. Gary was anxious about everything, including noises, walks, and even the dark. He would frequently work himself up to the point he just went nuts barking, running, jumping, nipping....you name it. We sent him to OpBarks for a 2-week board and train program, and he came back with a different pup. He knew how to walk nicely on a leash, sit, stay, and most of all, how to sit down and just chill! We still had some rough edges and stressful situations, but the foundation built at OpBarks has made the few months since his training progressively better. Gary now can even take hiking trips with some off-leash activity!”

We just wanted to say thank you for all the good work y'all did with Scarlet. She has continually surprised us with how much she improved. It really is night-and-day.
“Some quick highlights of things we didn't think possible a few weeks back:
- Overall Scarlet is considerably more confident around people. On several occasions she has approached acquaintances and strangers and gotten pets when, in the past, she would've been too shy to do so. Most impressively, our next-door neighbor had some guests that Scarlet had never met, and, after some tentative woofs, she walked up to each and ended up happily getting pet from all.
- Her leash skills and attentiveness to us while outside is much better. While there are still some trouble areas (mainly a few well-trafficked roads near our house), we have been able to take Scarlet to other parts of the city outside her normal two block stomping grounds. The u-turns and backaways in particular have been a great tool in helping calm Scarlet down and bring her focus back to us.
- It has also been a lot easier to have human conversations outside without having to deal with an overstimulated pup as Scarlet, either by command or on her own, will readily go into a long down and just chill (sometimes even if there is another dog friend nearby).
- In celebration of all her good work, we took Scarlet to the Wissahickon. As it is (to her) 'the most exciting place ever,' we were expecting some reversion to her old habits of wanting to pull everywhere. Instead, we were totally floored at how well-controlled she was and she even showcased some solid loose-leash skills!
Thank you so much for all you've done! We definitely feel you've given Scarlet a good base and us a good toolset to continue helping her grow more confident!”

Giving us the joy of long walks, a chill dog for outdoor dining, and the ability to help another dog owner in a moment of their own panic
“In February Nola completed Day School. We put her in the class to help us, her owners, and our “quality of life” with her. See, Nola has always been a sweet, loving puppy. But she is a big dog with BIG Energy. She has always been the perfect puppy to us, but when we took her out of a controlled environment like our home, she would become hyper, maybe even nervous, and hard to control. On walks, she would pull, zig-zag, and lunge. She would jump on strangers. A two-block walk would take over 30 minutes to complete because we would have to constantly stop, redirect, try “u-turns” and other tricks to get her to focus during walks to no avail.
We never thought we would have the day where we could enjoy a long walk with Nola that went past the first couple blocks of our home, let alone take her out to a restaurant with us where she could lay calmly next to our table with people and other animals walking by, but now we can. BUT this isn’t the biggest accomplishment they helped us reach with Nola.
In addition to giving us the joy of long walks and the ability to bring Nola with us to outdoor dining, Opportunity Barks gave us the ability to help another dog owner in a moment of their own panic and fear. You see, one of the first times we took Nola out to eat at a restaurant with us, we watched a couple walk by with their new puppy husky. You could tell this puppy was interested in Nola as they walked by but the puppy and owners turned a street before reaching the corner where we sat. About thirty minutes later, the same puppy came sprinting around the corner to our table- with no owner in sight. This new puppy clearly got out unexpectedly.
Here is where my full gratefulness to everything opportunity barks has come to a new height. Thanks to the skills and obedience they have helped build and instill in Nola, when this puppy came running up, Nola remained calm. She remained settled. She simply wagged her tail and looked at my boyfriend and me for permission to say hi and sniff this puppy that just came up and was licking her. Because Nola remained calm, I was able to grab ahold of the puppies harness so it couldn’t run away.
As I started looking up the owner’s contact info on the puppy’s collar, the owner came sprinting around the corner and found their dog nice and safe with us.
If Opportunity Barks had not helped get Nola to the place she is today I can’t say the same would be true. Sadly, if Nola was how she was pre-training, I probably would have been too focused on controlling her that I couldn’t have thought to grab the puppies harness, I would have been focused on controlling her. That puppy may have wandered farther away or into the street and this story could have ended differently, either with the puppy still missing or worse. I have always been so grateful for all the work Opportunity Barks has done with Nola and how much it has helped us bring her into even more parts of our life. However, after the incident described above I am even more grateful because now the skills and training they have taught Nola and us was also able to help a fellow dog owner in one of their biggest moments of fear.... and for that, I will be forever grateful.”

A complete 180 at the Vet
“I just wanted to write and say thank you for all of your help and guidance with Gus. We just got back from a very clam and easy vet visit. It’s a complete 180 from how these visits were just a few months ago.
Gus was able to walk onto the exam table himself, and sat and waited to be weighed. He was still nervous about having his temp taken, but stayed calm during the entire exam. The vet was taking a look at a rash under his hind legs and looked in his ears - it was a lot of looking and touching that he really would have rather passed on, but he handled it like a champ. The entire staff was shocked at how good he was, a few asked if he was on sedatives —nope! When we were all done he went to every person there to get treats and pets, wagging his tail the whole time.
I remember being so worried about Gus, thinking that he would never be able to have an exam without wearing a muzzle and running for the door every chance he got; with your help working on his confidence and trust he’s making huge strides, THANK YOU!”

We cannot put into words how grateful we are for Opportunity Barks!!!!
“We rescue all types of animals on our farm. In regard to dogs, we gravitate to large breeds like Rotties who are strays/homeless. We rescued a Mastiff/Rottie as a stray from SPCA. We follow Cesar Milan's methods, but this was not helping communicate with Max.....due to his sheer size and unruly behavior he was heading down a path to be a dangerous dog and returned to SPCA....Leigh was AMAZING!!!!!!!!! She reached Max, taught us how to communicate with him....now??? He is the most wonderful kind dog and listens on command a big SHOUT OUT THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

OpBarks is AMAZING!!!
“We brought our dog here for puppy socials and dog school and we continue to bring him here for day care. The staff is a wealth of knowledge!
The puppy socials were a great way for us to socialize our puppy appropriately and learn how to read their body language. They cap the socials and all puppies must be under 6 months. The trainer helped introduce our timid puppy to other dogs and humans; in just a few socials, he wasn't hiding under chairs anymore and was learning appropriate play manners.
We used the Old City location for Puppy School; our trainer there was absolutely amazing in every aspect. In each class, she would teach around five different skills/commands (e.g., eye contact, leash walking skills, downs with distractions, etc.) and show each person and their dog how to do it. She'd have you practice it all week and then have you review it at the beginning of the following week's class to examine the progress. The class was 5 weeks long and worth every single penny.
We try to bring our dog to day care here once a week. This is not like other day cares, where the dogs just play all day; the trainers at OpBarks actually train your dog! Our dog is out cold the moment he gets in the car to go home; it's amazing. We've seen immense improvement in his behavior and manners.
If I could give this place more than 5 stars I 100% would! Eternally grateful for all the wonderful women that run this fantastic business, the education they've provided us, and the love they show our dog!”

10/10 recommend
“I took my pomsky, Blue for the 5 day puppy boarding school and this place was so great! It was professional, clean and my Blue who is usually the most timid puppy still has a long way to go but we almost immediately saw the progress and confidence she gained right when we picked her up. I really feel like this was a worthwhile experience and I felt like I learnt a lot too, they're generous and kind ladies who really seemed like they truly wanted to help our dog and help us and all the while being so positive and reliable. Thank you guys and especially Leigh for educating us and Blue and having such a wonderful place where for the first time my puppy seemed excited to be away from home! 10/10 recommend this place, the quality is wonderful!”

Pleased as punch and blown away…
“I don't even know where to begin!! I found Op Barks after my previous training place wasn't offering a puppy class I needed. I didn't know what to expect at Op Barks, but I have only been pleased as punch and blown away. My husband and I have had four bullmastiffs (and two other dogs) over 20 years, and we currently have our fourth bullmastiff puppy, Stella. We have always done puppy orientation/training/obedience classes with our dogs, especially since bullmastiffs are large imposing breeds and especially need to be well socialized and need to learn not to jump on people.
I first enrolled Stella in OB's 5-week puppy starter class, then quickly added weekly puppy social hour. Then, I found out about their "Day School," which hands down has to be the BEST five-hour day dogs get to spend away from their home. The day school is the best combination of social play, personal training, and dog sitting. Stella is POOPED OUT when I pick her up, and more importantly, she loves returning.
The staff absolutely LOVES dogs, and they seem to get to know them really quickly. They seem to learn each dog's personality, and quirks, and needs, and they help us get a better understanding of our dog.
I can't recommend Opportunity Barks enough for all your dog training needs.”

Leash reactivity and behavioral issues
“Our rescue pit-mix has a LOT of behavioral issues: leash reactivity, small dog reactivity and human stranger aggression in the home. After reading lots of training articles that only left us more confused, we knew we needed professional help for our complex lady. And I was worried not every trainer would know how to handle a strong pit type. We just had our behavior eval with Leigh, who was a wealth of knowledge and never judgmental. She understands that every dog is different, and had lots of ideas and different methods in mind to help us manage our girl.”

After every session, I not only feel like I've seen improvement in my dog, but I feel like I went to school too!
“I feel so incredibly lucky that we've found Opportunity Barks! We welcomed a new chihuahua puppy into our home recently, which was a decision that our older chi really disagreed with. I sent Leigh a panicked email on a Sunday night because I was concerned about the aggression the adult dog was showing to the puppy -- and Leigh wrote me back, with a personal voice memo, just a few hours later.
Since then, we've worked with OpBarks trainers one on one, with both of our dogs and they've been absolutely incredible. After every session, I not only feel like I've seen improvement in my dog, but I feel like I went to school too! I've learned so much about to read and understand our dogs' body language, and it helped me to be a better, more conscientious dog owner. The facilities are great, and every person we've worked with has been so calming and welcoming. I've loved working with OpBarks and am excited to see what our puppy learns when he starts their puppy class next week!”

Would no go anywhere else!
“Would not go anywhere else! I’m so impressed by Leigh and her team’s devotion towards and awareness of each dog’s progress. We had to bring our pup in for behavioral issues and don’t know what we’d do without them- they are such great listeners and truly want to help us. Well worth it whether you’re looking for basic training or behavioral sessions (or in our case every class we can sign up for :)!”

He’s made remarkable progress…
“Our rescue dog had a lot of behavior problems when we got him. OpBarks helped us manage the ones we could and also let us know how some issues were inherited through his breed and we learned to understand him better. Training both dog and owner to coexist with a greater ability to communicate
“I absolutely love your approach to training both dog and owner to coexist with a greater ability to communicate. I've always been fearful of training courses for fear of every dog being placed in the same category and training dogs to be robodogs. I love that Fiona can be herself but have the tools to be her best self. Thank you so much! I will definitely recommend your services.”

Up-leveling my dog life 10-fold
“I started doing public and private classes at Opportunity Barks in 2018, and it was the best decision I’ve made for me and my Aussie doodle. Since then, I’ve moved three times, tried trainers and training schools galore, and can confidently say that Opportunity Barks is above and beyond all the rest! I wish I could have stayed with them from the start—imagine how advanced Jelly would be by now! Without being judgmental or pushy, my experience with OpBarks has been that they give clear and comprehend instruction that takes into account, not just obedience, but also canine psychology. Because after all, isn’t dog training just about clear communication and bonding?? (Yes!:)
Thank you, guys, for up-leveling my dog life 10 fold!! Xoxo” | Classes, Lessons
I appreciate the work you and your team put into helping us improve our lives!!
I am really pleased with her (our?) progress. I am in control of her 100% of the time. I could not say that with confidence before. She seems to enjoy the challenge of the loose leash. I’d say she also likes the additional attention (and treats) from me.
We are not perfect yet. Not sure we ever will be. But we will continue to work hard and consistently to become even better. I appreciate the work you and your team put in to help us improve our lives!!

The OPBarks team has been an amazing resource for our puppy, Redford. My husband and I have both had dogs our whole lives, but we have learned so many new things and love their philosophy.
Redford took part in puppy foundations as well as the puppy socials. Puppy foundations gave us a great basis for growing our pup's (as well as our) confidence and trust. The socials were amazing, he especially loved exploring the woods at the Quakertown location! Beyond the classes, the ability to ask questions and the willingness of the team to provide thoughtful answers has been invaluable - the experience has been as much of a learning experience for Red as it has been for us! Looking forward to continuing Redford's journey with the OPBarks team!

We've really enjoyed working with the Opportunity Barks team to help our puppy!
Oli has been great at puppy socials and the foundation class. We've learned a lot and Kaju has benefited for each session! Between working with Oli and the staff at the farm, it's been great to see how Kaju is getting more confident around other dogs and exploring on his own!
